The Weber School’s Theatre Program made history last week, taking center stage at Georgia Thespian Conference 2025 (ThesCon) as a featured Conference Show with its production of Pippin. Performing on the Riverside Mainstage at Columbus State University, our students delivered two sold-out performances to packed audiences of over 300 fellow theatre students, educators, and professionals—and brought the house down both times.
Performing for an audience of fellow theatre artists was an incredible experience that Weber’s student performers will cherish forever. “The audience LOVED them!” shared Elissa Marelle, Director of Theatrical Education. “The energy in the room was electric. The audience laughed, cried, and applauded like never before. Seeing our students shine on a stage of this magnitude was a truly proud moment!”
This milestone marks the first time in Weber’s Theatre Program’s history that it’s been invited to perform as a Mainstage Conference Show at ThesCon, an honor reserved for the state's top high school theatre programs. From months of rehearsals to a standing ovation in Columbus, this achievement is a testament to our students’ talent, dedication, and passion for the performing arts.
The outstanding cast included Bram Fages, Kayla Furie, Daniella Zalik, Evan Schneiderman, Milo Medof, Sophia Zalik, Arianna Zalik, Dylan Cahill, Lindsey Webber, Tillie Blanc, and Tomer Bezalel.
An exceptional student-led tech crew brought the show to life, with Noah Berg, Joey Mekyten, Daryn Mand, Tobi Williams, and Brenin Jones handling behind-the-scenes magic. A special Kol Hakavod to technical theatre students Tobi Williams and Noah Berg, who were recognized for their outstanding work in technical design.
This incredible production was made possible through the vision and expertise of our faculty and industry professionals: Elissa Marelle, Director of Theatrical Education; Chris Chapman, Production Manager; Cary Tedder, Musical Director; and Scott Leaderman, Lighting and Sound Director.
From late-night rehearsals to standing ovations, this ThesCon journey was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Weber’s theatre students. Kol Hakavod to the entire Pippin cast and crew for this historic achievement!
