Weber’s 11th-grade class stepped out of the classroom and into history with a guided tour of Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward, exploring the landmarks that shaped Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and legacy. Led by Unexpected Atlanta, students visited Ebenezer Baptist Church, the King Center, and other significant sites, deepening their understanding of the Civil Rights Movement and its lasting impact. The experience brought their U.S. History studies to life in a meaningful way, offering a chance to reflect on the lessons of the past and their relevance today. The day wrapped up with lunch and time together at Ponce City Market—a fitting way to end a day of learning, connection, and reflection. Thank you to Director of Student Programming Michelle Geppert and Social Studies Teacher Mike Nance for coordinating all aspects of the trip and ensuring its curricular alignment, and to faculty chaperones Michelle Geppert, Kelly Jones, Gabby Lyon, Mike Nance, Herschel Revzin, and Carrie Runnels for guiding students throughout the day.
