Michael Kay Israel Leadership Fellows - Year 2

Weber School is proud to announce the launch of the second year of the Michael Kay Israel Leadership Fellows (MKILF) program, a co-curricular Honors Diploma distinction designed to inspire student leadership in service of Israel and the Jewish people. Open to 10th-12th grade students, the MKILF provides Weber students with a unique opportunity to deepen their relationship with Israel and Zionism and cultivate their leadership voice and vision, now and for the future - all while adding impressive breadth to their college resumes.

The kickoff event for this year’s program will take place on Friday, August 23, featuring guest speaker Noa Fay, a recent Columbia University graduate. Noa will share her first-hand experiences of being proudly Jewish and Zionist on campus amidst anti-Israel protests and rising threats to Jewish students. This session sets the tone for what promises to be another impactful year of learning, reflection, and leadership development.

Under the direction of Ms. Bernadette May-Beaver, the MKILF is guided by Weber faculty in partnership with Dr. Noam Weissman and his team of world-class Israel educators from OpenDor Media, providing content for Fellows to study and explore Zionism and its essential role in understanding Israel’s history, culture, and values. The collaborative of the MKILF will begin at an overnight Retreat on October 31-November 1 at the Emory Conference Center Hotel, where Fellows will focus on contemporary issues facing Israel, Israelis, and Zionism.  Students will be offered additional convenings in the Spring semester, where groups of Fellows will apply their learning towards action plans for leadership.

The Michael Kay Israel Leadership Fellows program is made possible by a generous grant by Ann Kay and her family in honor of their late husband and father, Michael Kay z”l, a pillar of the Atlanta Jewish community and a long-serving member of The Weber School Board of Trustees. We are honored to continue this ambitious initiative in his name, providing our students with unparalleled opportunities to grow in leadership on behalf of Israel.
