Visiting Artist Series: Michelle Malone

As part of this year’s Visiting Artist Series, Weber Music Program Director Drew Cohen and Music Teacher Michael Levine recently welcomed acclaimed musician Michelle Malone to The Weber School, providing students the invaluable opportunity to learn and collaborate with a professional artist. The Visiting Artist Series, launched in 2022, brings renowned professional musicians to campus to share their expertise, offering students real-world insights and hands-on experiences in the music field.

During her visit, Michelle shared her journey as a musician—covering everything from her early days in the business, working with record labels, to founding her own label. She spoke about the dramatic changes in how music is sold and consumed, from vinyl records to streaming, giving students a behind-the-scenes look at the evolving world of music.

A highlight of the visit was when Michelle and lead guitarist Doug Kees performed together, allowing our students to join in, playing alongside the duo. This powerful experience allowed students to apply their musical skills, receive feedback from professionals, and understand the dynamics of performing in a real-world setting.
